Position Title: Supply Chain Leader (Production Planning)

Location: Winchester, VA

Reports To: Supply Chain Manager

Job Summary:

The Leader of Supply Chain (Production Planning) is responsible for the initiation and updating of the plant production schedule and is responsible for defining and prioritizing strategies, goals, and performance standards. This position will devise manufacturing production schedules that meet customer demands, business objectives, and new product launch timelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Evaluate, plan, and prioritizelong-term and short-term production capabilities to meet business objectives.

  • Develop, communicate, and drive the implementationand execution of an efficient and balanced production plan / purchasing plan toensure appropriate inventory is available to achieve customer service levelobjectives.

  • Continuous review of forecasts inconcert with customer orders to establish SKU inventory parameters that willachieve the business inventory management objectives.

  • Work with sourcing, vendors,transportation, receiving and production to ensure raw materials/components areavailable to support manufacturing schedules as planned. Focus on preventing and reducing unplannedschedule changes by tracking and communicating root causes to missed scheduleadherence.

  • Balance production load to best utilizemachine capacity. Communicate potentialconstraints. Insure sufficient controls exist to maintain a high degree ofperpetual inventory accuracy, BOM, specifications.

  • Monitor excess inventories (E&O),and coordinate with finance and sales teams to ensure stranded inventories havea pathway out of the network through disposition or focused sales activity.

  • Work cross-functionally with entireoperations team, including production supervisors and team leads, toeffectively communicate schedules and measure adherence. Work directly with manufacturing and productengineers on new product launch requirements, including the purchasing andscheduling of trial componentry and builds.

  • Monitor and expedite responses toimmediate customer service needs as communicated by Sales, Marketing, CustomerService, Demand Planning Forecasters, Etc.

  • Will interact with a wide range ofinternal and external customers, including all levels of associates (productionteam leaders to upper-management) to achieve goals and objectives. Requires minimum supervision. Works under pressure of time constraints and deadlines.

  • Must have a minimum of 5-7 yearsplanning and scheduling experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations SupplyChain or equivalent preferred.

  • Excellent planning and priority settingskills.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturingoperations.

  • Superior communication skills bothverbal & written.

  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and Accessskills.


  • SAP (ECC& APO modules, repetitive & discrete manufacturing, variableconfigurator)

  • PKMSWarehouse Management System

  • MATTEC or other plant floor jobscheduling software knowledge

  • BEX BWreporting & query building

  • Advanceduse of Excel (formula creation, pivot tables, graphics, and reporting)

  • Basic MSAccess experience with importing data and building/viewing reports
