Position Title: Distribution Supervisor, Food Division

Location: Wilton, ME

Reports to: Distribution Manager

Job Summary:

The Distribution Supervisor directs and coordinates daily warehouse activity including, but not limited to customer shipments, receiving, quality control, expense control and safety. Prepares and plans strategies to meet and exceed customer service requirements, maximizing productivity and implementing team goals while ensuring a safe working environment.

Job Description:

  • Responsible for directing and leadingwarehouse associates in meeting daily, weekly and monthly goals.

  • Responsible for housekeeping andinsuring overall facility cleanliness.

  • Maintains and improves upon trainingprograms and provides training in such areas as safety, quality and new hiredevelopment.

  • Insures proper routing of shipments aswell as dock assignments for inbound and outbound loads.

  • Coordinates communications betweenoffice personnel and the warehouse to insure critical information is shared aswell as fosters communications and teamwork among staff to ensureaccomplishment of operation goals.

  • Insure high quality standards aremaintained by working with QA and other departments to develop preventive andcorrective actions.

  • Read, understand and analyzeoperational reports in order to evaluate departmental performance and developaction plans for improvements.

  • Effectively and professionallycommunicate with all other facilities and vendors in order to resolve issuesand implement positive change.

  • Conduct performance evaluations andassist Warehouse Manager with hiring and dismissals.

  • Ensures all company policies,regulations and procedures are fallowed.

  • Foster a positive, team culture whilemaintaining high levels of employee engagement.

  • Develop individual associate's skills,standards and morale through training and coaching. Provide positive feedback whenever possibleand disciplinary action if necessary.

  • Back-up all office or warehousepersonnel as needed.

  • Ensure all warehouse activity isperformed with the highest regard for safety.Enforce all safety standards as well as develop strategies to improvesafety.

  • Requires regular attendance to performessential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end timesfor work.

  • Performs such individual assignments asmanagement may direct.

  • Establishes and maintains effectivework relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community;and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary forthe satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • 3-5 years of experience in a warehouse environment,including supervisory experience.

  • Knowledge of federal and state DOT, OSHA, EPS, DEP, andother regulatory agencies, practices, and policies.

  • Knowledge of SAP and Warehouse Management Systems.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles

  • Strong communication, with all levels of theorganization

  • Completes task with a sense of urgency

  • Good listening, teamwork, and attention to detail

  • Reliable with patience and professionalism

  • Use of Microsoft outlook and MS Office including Word,Excel, and PowerPoint


  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field

  • Forklift Certified Preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Sittingat workstation approximately 85 percent of work time. Standing and walking approximately 15 percentof work time.

  • Mustbe able to travel 10-15 percent of work time.

  • Abilityto work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.

  • Typicaloffice environment with shelves overhead and above work surfaces.
