Position Title: Technical Lead, Automation

Accountable for maintaining a productive, efficient, quality-oriented and safe work atmosphere during their assigned shifts' operation along with ensuring positive, fair and equitable treatment for all employees.

Primary Functions

  • Manage the production floor responsibilities particular to R1 Spout automation and manual assembly to include manpower utilization, material efficiencies and documented quality evaluation to ensure that maximum capabilities are met.Ensure accurate and timely input into Mattec system for corrections or improvements

  • Directs and performs activity on the shift with respect to preventative maintenance and production throughput.Establishes communication path with Maintenance Team to coordinate repair and maintenance schedules for assembly equipment to ensure efficiencies and prolong the life of the assembly machine. Produce useful original thoughts and structured thinking processes and apply established knowledge or principles along with using imagination and ingenuity in the solution of problems and improvement of the manufacturing process.

  • Provide timely, detailed information pass-on, via the shift to shift log book, to other supervisors, managers and departments that will document problems and corrective actions that were taken during their shift’s hours of operation.Provides timely submission of reports and miscellaneous documentation as required by policy and procedure and/or requested by Staff.

  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees by coordinating with supervisor, managers and departments to ensure consistency in the manufacturing operation.Ensure equitable distribution of work assignments and prioritization of same for the production team along with follow through until completion.

  • Provides timely information for performance reviews, evaluations of team members along with recommendations for corrective actions and promotion potential.Providing documentation for counseling and/or disciplinary actions to the shift supervisor, both verbal and written, when required on assigned shift.

  • Handle timekeeping for assigned team using paper, timecards, computer and the Kronos program.

  • Troubleshoot and evaluate assembly process within documented specifications.Make necessary adjustments, to assure prescribed quality and production standards are achieved and maintained.Investigate root cause of severe process shifts to and take appropriate corrective action to bring process back within specifications.Monitor and evaluate daily production to ensure customer expectations are exceeded.

  • Ensure accurate, up-to-date and complete work instructions are maintained for the specific job currently running and proper filing and distribution of these sheets when the job is completed.

  • Maintains enforcement of and compliance with policy and procedures to ensure that the results conform to planned and/or desired results and to assure a safe working environment is maintained.Establish and maintain an appropriate 6-S program.

  • Directs the performance of real time and preventative maintenance on all primary and auxiliary equipment as required and within skill level. Shows proactive thinking in training and development of shift personnel to maximize efficiencies in the shift operation.Coordinates with Maintenance and Tooling on all issues that are beyond the skill level of the shift team to ensure accurate communication of needs for repair and timeliness for completion.

  • With the team, work through Continuous Process Improvements as assigned or thought of to reduce waste, improve process, improve housekeeping and/or improve cost savings.

  • Ensure adequate supplies are on hand to assure a smooth efficient operation and ordering/requisitioning additional supplies as needed.

  • Ensures a productive, proactive work environment.Provide ongoing training to subordinates to ensure continued growth and improvement in the all aspects of their responsibilities. Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

  • Key Qualifications

  • Excellent computer capabilities, including MS Office.

  • Excellent mechanical abilities.

  • 2-3 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.Excellent mechanical abilities.

  • 1-2 years supervisory/lead experience.

  • Interpersonal skills required to communicate in accurate manner to individuals and to the team to develop a cohesive group.

  • The ability to work with and maintain information of a highly confidential and sensitive nature.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Demonstrated ability to display diplomacy in day-to-day interactions with the commitment to task with awareness of urgency.

  • The ability to work independently and work as a value add to plant team efforts.
