Summary: The Silk Multi-Color Silk Screen Press Operator will be responsible for complete set-up, running, clean up and preventative maintenance of the screen printing presses

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned by management as necessary.

  • Responsible to set up and operate the screen print press with speed and accuracy

  • Performs routine maintenance, cleaning, and repairs on automatic multi color silk screen print press equipment and Single Color Silk Screen Presses

  • Inspects screens and repairs problems.

  • Mounts screens and tools in press

  • Adjust press and dryer settings,

  • Adjust print quality and register as necessary

  • Diagnose and trouble shoot machine and process problems

  • Clean screen/squeegee/flood bar, roller wraps using hand tools and appropriate chemicals.

  • Mix inks using established written formulas, scale, and calculator.

  • Based on production order paperwork received from cutting information from SAP, validate that correct pieces of fabric are being silk screened, correct silk screen image is being used, and correct ink is being used.

  • Bundle and package according to specifications; Must be able to determine a final part count quickly and accurately.

  • Move silk screened cutwork to next department receiving/staging area.

  • Document over temperature readings, automatic press platen temperature reading using a ray gun or fabric temperature reading using a ray gun.Communicate to automatic press operator or group leader when out of specification.

  • Inspect for quality issues of printing on fabric pieces (cure, position, clarity & print quality, registration, shrinkage, colors, proper side of material).Notify operator of concerns.

  • Routinely check fabric for defects, runs, stains, etc. by distinguishing fine visual details and color variations

  • When cut work needs to be replaced; retrieve proper pattern from rack, draw and cut parts to be replaced from extra material that is provided with cut work or on fabric rack.Ensure proper traceability.

  • Support 5S process initiative by keeping work area clean.Assist in defining where things should go and put them in their place, tag items that do not belong with red tags.

  • Clean screens per procedures.

  • Notify Group leader / Maintenance when experiencing problems with equipment.

  • Completes required documentation including but not limited to recording production quantities, downtime, scrap, through put.

  • Responsible for injury prevention and promoting safety by keeping work area neat, clean and organized.

  • Performs miscellaneous other assignments as required.

  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential elements as listed above between the assigned start and end times for work. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma, general education degree (GED) preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with other employees in the organization. Ability to interact and communicate with co-workers on all business related issues.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to read numbers, count, add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Measure using a ruler.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to comply with company’s and regulatory agencies quality standards.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time. The employee is required to use fingers, hands and arms to operate machines and reach for, hold, grasp, push/pull, and handle material repetitively with a high degree of dexterity. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly. Distinguish fine visual details and color variations

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to limited moving mechanical equipment.
