Newell Brands Quality Engineer in Rome, Georgia
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for developing/executing/maintaining/improving an effective and comprehensive Quality Management System to include: specifications and standards control, change control, manufacturing and supplier quality, training, communication, product & process monitoring and control, internal audits.
The Quality Engineer will lead/support overall continual improvement of Quality through teamwork, disciplined methods, sampling, experimentation, project management, data analysis, team reviews, communication and reporting.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provides quality expertise and leadership in the following areas:
Develop, apply, andmaintain quality requirements andstandards for manufacturing products/processes.
Serveas Quality Assuranceresource for problem identification, resolution, loss reportingandcontinuous improvement.
Support engineeringefforts by participating in development projects.
Monitor and manage processchange/improvement efforts. Designexperiments to validate the efficacy of theseimprovements and to ensure the integrity of finished products.
Designand implementmethods for processcontrol, process improvement,testing and inspection.
Promoteand execute quality standards, inspection processes, testmethodology, quality plans, documents and reports.
Participatein vendor/processcertification; re-certification.
Review customerpurchase orders, contracts and change requestsand ensure that thenecessary criteriaand provisions are included inquality and process plans.
Develop, execute, andanalyze quality-reporting measures.
Reportto managementon quality issues, trends and losses.
Identify issues with current processes, conductcomprehensive root cause analyses, and implement robustcorrective and preventive actionsin a timely fashion.
Review supplier’s purchase orders and establishsupplier quality requirements.
Participatein/lead internal and external quality audits.
Interface with supplier andcustomer quality representativesconcerning problems with quality assurance andassure that effectivecorrective action is implemented/communicated.
Compile, writeand deliver training materialon quality standards and activities.
Remaincurrent on technology through research andtraining.

Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent engineering or technical programs. A combination of education and experience will be considered in place of a degree.
Minimum 4 to 7 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment in a quality or manufacturing engineering or production management role.
Certified Quality Engineer, Green Belt / Black Belt preferred
Experienceas leader of a Quality Assurance team in manufacturingenvironment.
Experienceleading improvement projects (Six Sigma,Lean)
Training in LeanManufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Technical Role Competencies :
Comprehensive knowledge of Qualitymethodologies to include, but not limitedto,Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Measurement Systems Analysis, ProductionPart Approval Process, Quality Systems Assessment,Advanced Product Quality Planning, StatisticalProcess Control,Root Cause Analysis, as well as the application of said quality methodologiesto includesupplier quality/supplier development.
Demonstrates a high concern fordetail, accuracy, and complianceto Company andCorporate policies and procedures.
Strongskills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledgeof Minitab orJMP statistical software a plus.
Ability to work with andlead cross-functional groups.
Ability to developand implement programsfor continuous improvement.
General knowledgeof verbal and written communications for maintaining effective working relationshipswith all employees.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Ability to lift25lbs. occasionally.
Sittingat a desk or workstation approximately 50 percentof the work time.Standing and walkingapproximately 50 percent of the work time.
25-50%travel is required(some foreign travel).
Ability to work extended hours and/ortravel with short notice;occasionally on weekends.
