Job Summary:

The Import/Logistic Coordinator manages the flow of goods from foreign destinations, including customs documentation and transportation. Based on delivery requirements and is responsible for finalizing shipping detail information for distribution of goods into the U.S. and Canada. The Import/Logistics Coordinator reviews, tracks and reports on shipment status from scheduled on board date to receipt of shipment at final destination, ensures freight is managed from specified suppliers according to agreed terms and conditions. The Import Logistics Coordinator works through complete shipping process from pre-booking through delivery with limited oversight and management, confirms goods are imported to U.S. and Canada in agreement with company policy and government laws and regulations and is responsible for managing multiple shipments that necessitate teamwork, multi-tasking and prioritization. Builds relationships with domestic and overseas vendors, freight forwarders, steamship lines and team members while overseeing the completion of paperwork and monetary transactions

Essential Functions:

  • Review import documentation to validate proper classification and correct value is declared on the customs entries

  • Manage flow of documentation between vendors, brokers, forwarder and finance

  • Communicate with vendors, forwarders and carriers on documentation needs, including building and maintaining appropriate relationships with these external partners to ensure effective communication and partnership

  • Work with Procurement in obtaining shipment/product information to secure freight quotes.

  • Approve freight bookings

  • Track, trace and expedite finished goods and samples into USA and Canada

  • Track, on a daily basis, containers and air shipments from overseas and domestic vendors into USA and Canada

  • Resolve discrepancies, reduce delays and expedite delivery

  • Troubleshoot and resolve shipping, quality and regulation problems

  • Track data about shipments, facilities, brokers, clients and compliance

  • Send updates to customer service and Supply Chain on the status of product

  • Manage flow of good from suppliers through customs

  • Enforce established logistic guidelines and processes for suppliers

  • Ensure shipping compliance with state, federal, and international regulations

  • Report weekly logistics status to inform stakeholders

  • Create monthly & annual reports and documentation, distribute to stakeholders as needed/directed.

Required Qualifications:

  • An Associate’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain or Logistics.

  • A demonstrated knowledge of US Customs regulations.

  • A good understanding of domestic and international logistics.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask while remaining detail oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong process and technical skills – intermediate Excel skills

  • Experience with SAP or SAP AFS.

  • Experience with importation.

  • A passion for the Outdoor Industry and Travel/adventure.
