The Brand and Product Marketing Manager is responsible for the planning and development of seasonal marketing messages for the Marmot and ExOfficio product lines. They will work closely with the Category Managers throughout the GTM process to identify, validate and develop key collection, product and technology stories that will create consumer demand for Marmot and ExOfficio products and build awareness and affinity for the two brands.

The Brand and Product Marketing Manager will work closely with the Director of Brand and the Creative Director to plan seasonal marketing campaigns based on brand and product messages and the merchandising needs of owned and customer online and brick-and-mortar retail. The Brand and Product Marketing Manager will serve as an advocate for the consumer and for the NBTA merchants to ensure that marketing messages are developed and executed to meet business goals identified by NBTA leadership and are relevant to consumer needs and perceptions.

The Brand and Product Marketing Manager will manage certain channels for distribution of seasonal marketing messages including (1) public relations [to be executed through an outside vendor], (2) social media [to be executed by the Social Media Manager] and (3) trade marketing [by managing the delivery of seasonal assets to the Trade Marketing Manager].

The Brand and Product Marketing Manager has a strong understanding of the outdoor industry in general, and specifically apparel operations to help manage communications with stakeholders globally.

This position is part of Newell Brands Technical Apparel (NBTA), a division of Newell Brands (NYSE: NWL), a globally-recognized designer, developer, marketer and retailer of high-performance technical apparel and equipment with a portfolio of brands that includes Marmot® and ExOfficio®.

Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with Director of Brand to planand execute seasonal and evergreen communication strategies.

  • Manages the development of seasonal messagesand campaigns through the use of internal and external resources.

  • Manages external public relations agency support.

  • Manages (through the Social Media Manager) theuse of influencers and athletes as brand communication agents.

  • Budget management - forecasts and reports onall expenditures for social media and, if appropriate, brand advertisingand content marketing platform media.

  • Proactively identifies and cultivatestraditional and non-traditional media contacts in general markets andspecial interest markets as appropriate (international, domestic, regionalin print, online and social media channels).

  • Researches and advises on trends involving newmedia and communications tools.

  • Liaises with Marketing and Product on newproduct launches to develop storytelling materials.

  • Manages and keeps current relevant areas of theMarketing content calendar.

  • Actively manages professional development.

KeyQualifications:

  • Universityor four-year college degree in Business, Journalism, Marketing orCorporate Communications or equivalent combination of education andexperience

  • Aminimum of 7 years of professional experience in a marketing or marketingcommunications leadership role including strategic planning, mediarelations, creative project management, and/or marketing, preferably withexperience in the active-outdoor industry

  • Practicalknowledge of other functions such as product development, design,production, sales and merchandising preferred

  • Projectmanagement skills with both long and short-term projects requiringcreativity and ingenuity

  • Worksprofessionally with flexibility in handling multiple priorities in afast-paced environment

  • Excellentorganizational skills with strong attention to detail

  • Excellentcommunication and grammar skills

  • Strongplanning, scheduling, and problem solving skills

  • Proventrack record in communications, agency relations, implementing processes,and on-time delivery

  • Provenexperience and skill managing and developing people

  • Knowledgeof MS Office - Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, e-mail and Internet use withknowledge of news monitoring services, Adobe Acrobat and graphic fileoptions (TIFF, EPS, etc.) is a plus

  • Self-motivated,flexible, and able to handle large volumes of work independently

  • Sense ofhumor and sense of fun

  • Able totravel up to 20% of the year, including possible international travel

  • Must beable to lift boxes – 35 lbs (shipping and receiving product)
