Position Title: Quality Engineer

Reports To: Director of Quality

Work Location: West Andover, MA

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for developing, executing, maintaining, and improving an effective and comprehensive Quality Management System to include: specifications and standards control, change control, manufacturing and supplier quality, training, communication, product & process monitoring and control, internal audits. This role will lead and support overall continual improvement of Quality through teamwork, disciplined methods, sampling, experimentation, project management, data analysis, team reviews, communication and reporting.


  • Develop, apply, and maintain qualityrequirements and standards for manufacturing products/processes.

  • Serve as Quality Assurance resource for problemidentification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.

  • Support engineering efforts by participating indevelopment projects.

  • Monitor and manage process change/improvementefforts. Design experiments to validate the efficacy of these improvements andto ensure the integrity of finished products.

  • Design and implement methods for processcontrol, process improvement, testing and inspection.

  • Promote and execute quality standards,inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents and reports.

  • Participate in vendor/process certification;re-certification.

  • Review customer purchase orders, contracts andchange requests and ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions areincluded in quality and process plans.

  • Develop, execute, and analyze quality-reportingmeasures.

  • Report to management on quality issues, trendsand losses.

  • Identify issues with current processes, conductcomprehensive root cause analyses, and implement robust corrective andpreventive actions in a timely fashion.

  • Review supplier’s purchase orders and establishsupplier quality requirements.

  • Participate in and lead internal and externalquality audits.

  • Interface with supplier and customer qualityrepresentatives concerning problems with quality assurance and assure thateffective corrective action is implemented/communicated.

  • Compile, write and deliver training material onquality standards and activities.

  • Remain current on technology through researchand training.

  • Establishes and maintains effective workrelationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; andmaintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactoryperformance of all assigned responsibilities.


  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering, Mechanical orManufacturing Technology, or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years’ of experience working in amanufacturing environment in a quality or manufacturing engineering orproduction management role.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Quality methodologiesto include, but not limited to, Failure Mode Effect Analysis, MeasurementSystems Analysis, Production Part Approval Process, Quality Systems Assessment,Advanced Product Quality Planning, Statistical Process Control, Root CauseAnalysis, as well as the application of said quality methodologies to includesupplier quality/supplier development.

  • Demonstrates a high concern for detail,accuracy, and compliance to Company and Corporate policies and procedures.

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, includingWord, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Minitab or JMP statistical software aplus.

  • Ability to work with and lead cross-functionalgroups.

  • Ability to develop and implement programs forcontinuous improvement.

  • General knowledge of verbal and writtencommunications for maintaining effective working relationships with allemployees.

  • Ability to work extended hours and/or travelwith short notice; occasionally on weekends.


  • Experience as leader of a Quality Assurance teamin manufacturing environment.

  • Experience leading improvement projects (SixSigma, Lean)

  • Training in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigmamethodologies.

  • Certified Quality Engineer, Green Belt / BlackBelt preferred
