Newell Brands National Account Manager - Grocery in New York City, New York

The National Account Manager (NAM) is responsible for developing, executing and fostering a collaborative business partnership between Newell Brands and assigned customers that delivers volume, share and profit objectives for the Company. This role will build, manage and execute Joint Business Plans with the customer and work collaboratively with internal and external cross functional teams. Primary role objectives to deliver annual financial objectives, core distribution and off shelf merchandising targets to align with the customers go to market strategy. Execute consumer and shopper driven strategies that enable Newell Brands to achieve best in class results. Utilize leading edge data, information systems, and metrics around financial, brand, and shopper trends to maximize market share, sales, and profits through price optimization for Newell Brands and our customers. Build customer relationships at multiple levels and facilitate connectivity in other functional areas including Marketing, Supply Chain, Communications and Operations. Deliver results while maintaining the highest level of integrity.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver sales and profitabilitytargets within a specific regional geography

  • Build customer relationships atthe buyer level and facilitates connectivity in other functional areas.

  • Builds robust growth plans tosecure incremental planogram distribution space and increase year overyear promotional activities.

  • Manage retailers directly andindirectly via broker network.

  • Executes consumer and shopperdriven strategies for their customers

  • Use data, information systems,and metrics around financial, brand, and shopper trends to maximize marketshare, sales, and profits.

  • Lead process for managing tradespends/customer programs in collaboration with trade and finance throughmanagement of internal TPM system.

  • May provide analytical andpresentation support for National Account Managers on larger accounts

  • Lead the Business Segment onthe needs of the Customer.

  • Develop and execute Customer& Category Strategic Development and annual operating plan.

  • Negotiates and manages tradefunds to create customer and company value by consistently measuring andenforcing trade terms and identifying opportunities for improvement

  • Works with demand planning todevelop accurate sales forecasts and achieve specified levels of forecastaccuracy Monitors the competitors' brands and products as well as ourmarket share, competitor market share, and target market share tounderstand shopper trends and opportunities and communicating toappropriate sales, trade and brand management

  • Collaborates with trademarketing to provide and explain market data to the customer

  • Works with trade to implementmethods that assist our customers in effectively and creatively winningwith consumers, shoppers, end-users, and purchasers through promotions,packaging and merchandising.

  • Leverages our brands andproduct mix to improve profitability and meet customer, shopper, and NewellBrands targets

  • Bachelors/University degree

  • 7+ years sales and/or tradeexperience

  • US Grocery Experience,Northeast, Mid Atlantic preference

  • Experience with a minimum $15M -$25M book of business

  • Management of a KAM or directreport experience preferred

  • Broker management experience

  • Persuasive / Sales Ability /Negotiation Skills

  • Background in dealing withselling “the bag” of multiple brands across many categories

  • Initiative & follow-through

  • Solid analytical skills andacute attention to details

  • Strong project managementskills

  • Self-motivated with a strongwork ethic and exceptional drive for results

  • Advanced skills using MicrosoftWord, Excel, and Power Point

  • Ability to thrive in afast-paced environment

  • Proven ability to lead cross functionalteam

  • Excellent written and verbalcommunication skills; must be able to present data in an organized manner

  • Demonstrated ability to handlemultiple tasks and assignments simultaneously

  • Conflict Management/Composure;Technical Knowledge

  • 25-30% Travel
