Position Title: Team Leader

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Location: Maryville, TN

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting the Production Supervisor run the day to day operations of the department. The Team Leader will support the supervisor in five areas: Production, 6S/housekeeping, training, quality and safety.

Job Duties:

Production Support

• Help manage work orders and job changes.

• Ensure that work cell is staffed on a daily basis.

• Conduct a daily team meeting and attend morning meeting with supervisor.

• Assist material handlers in keeping material on-hand for production.

• Help manage the break schedule for all team members.

• Review production Metrics with the team on a daily basis.

• Responsible for coordinating production work.

5S and Housekeeping

• Ensure that all housekeeping and 5S audits are conducted daily.

• Ensure that each work cell stays clean and orderly.

• Collaborate with the shift maintenance tech to resolve 5S issues.

• Participate in Kaizen and 5S events.

• Work with engineers to ensure proper work cell setups and layouts.

Training

• Ensure that all new hires are trained and integrated into the work cell.

• Work with supervisors and trainers to facilitate and conduct operator certification.

• Ensure proper communication of policy and procedural changes.

• Facilitate the resolution of employee personnel issues and concerns.

Quality

• Assist in ensuring that OMSs, pallet specs, and work orders are accurate.

• Conduct additional quality checks and audits in assigned work cell.

• Ensure usage of proper labels and packaging.

• Ensure that scrap is being counted, recorded and issues are fixed.

Safety

• Complete daily pre-shift safety communication.

• Conduct daily safety audits and hazard recognition in work cell.

• Participate in safety committees or other plant safety initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to read, understand and follow written and verbal work instructions.

• Visual aptitude – must be able to see with or without correction.

• Communication – ability to communicate verbally or non-verbally.

• Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.

• Ability to perform standing job for 12 consecutive hours.

• Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for varying periods of time during a consecutive 12 hour period.

• High School Diploma or GED.
