Newell Brands Operations Manager - CCS in Lumberton, North Carolina

Position Title: Operations Manager - CCS

Location: Lumberton, NC

Reports to : Plant Manager

Summary:

The Operations Leader is responsible for leading and directing the day-to-day activities of all manufacturing processes. The position involves supervising and developing multiple direct reports in production, technical, and materials disciplines to ensure company objectives are met and company policies are followed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prioritize, direct, and guide manufacturing management/activities of the shift.

  • Manage the shift towards meeting company goals and manufacturing metrics.

  • Training and development of all manufacturing associates.

  • Administrative duties including daily reports.

  • Performance and disciplinary action management.

  • Employee Relations responsibilities partnering with HR.

  • Develops strategies and programs that improve the productivity and efficiency of the various work processes of the company.

  • Prioritizes daily issues and assigns appropriate resources to resolve issues as needed.

  • Supports all other departmental objectives through teamwork and collaboration.

  • Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues, employee safety attitudes, incident reporting, accident investigation, etc.

  • Continually improve housekeeping in all areas.

  • Evaluate improvement activities on the manufacturing floor directly related to equipment capabilities, staffing (all disciplines), spend (direct and indirect), and area layout.

  • Other tasks communicated by the Plant Manager.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Manufacturing/Operations/Engineering or related field preferred or 5 years supervisory experience in Operations/Manufacturing.

  • Multi-department leadership experience required.

  • Must effectively provide leadership and guidance for hourly and salary staff.

  • Must have proven track record of successful leadership experience.

  • Ability to reason, make decisions, and use independent judgment in various situations.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively, both in verbal and written form among different levels of the organization.

  • Must be organized, a team player and be committed to quality systems.

  • Must be able to handle multiple-projects at a time, self motivated and pro-active.

  • Must have knowledge of MS Office applications.

  • SAP and Mattec experience preferred, but not required.

  • Must be able to prioritize issues and assign appropriate resources for resolution.

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work overtime and weekends as well as some irregular hours.

  • Will be exposed to some or all of the following: dust, odor, oils, outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and moderate to loud noise levels.
