Job summary

As a Legal Counsel EMEA you will be responsible for proactively supporting all Newell Brands Divisions operating in Europe, the Middle East and Africa on a broad range of legal matters relating to their day to day commercial, regulatory and supply chain activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Negotiating and advising on commercial agreements, including distribution, agency, sales, concession, franchise, wholesale, procurement and supply chain.

  • More specifically, negotiating and advising on French Distribution Agreements , working closely with the commercial and sales teams in connection with the annual contract renewal process.

  • Managing and advising on commercial disputes.

  • Reviewing and advising on marketing and advertising materials, claims, packaging, communications, competitions and promotions.

  • Advising on quality, packaging/labeling and third party certifications.

  • Supporting the marketing teams with product launches in EMEA, providing all commercial and regulatory advice required.

  • Providing routine advice and guidance on consumer and product regulatory issues, including responding to inquiries before consumer protection, import/export, and other authorities in EMEA.

  • General compliances issues, including data protection, and competition law, partnering with U.S. based Ethics and Compliance Counsel where required.

  • Coordinating with and supporting U.S. attorneys on specialist legal matters, including Intellectual Property, Employment/Labour, Corporate and Litigation issues.

  • Providing internal training on a range of legal topics.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • French Law Degree or equivalent European qualification and licensed to practice in the EU

  • 3-5 years’ Post Qualification Experience in a similar position, preferably with an American or International Company

  • Fluent in English and French

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience of French Distribution contract negotiation

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal management and outside parties (additional language skills preferred)

  • Hands-on legal professional, possessing outstanding technical, analytical, communication and influencing skills

  • Proactive and dynamic team player, with a high level of energy

  • Ability to work in an organized, detailed manner under tight deadlines

  • High level of commercial awareness with ability to propose pragmatic business solutions to complex legal issues
