Primary Purpose of Position:

Account Service Representative role includes providing exceptional customer & sales support for several hundred customers via telephone, fax and email. Key responsibilities include process and control of sales orders, using effective communication with sales, operations regarding inventory issues and transportation regarding scheduling, within assigned areas and detailed verification of invoicing to customers.

Major Duties

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Receive and respond to inquiries from customers, sales staff, internal departments, and vendors. Use professionalism and diplomacy to handle complaints, make adjustments, answer or initiate correspondence and make every effort to satisfy the customer.

  • Manage daily order to cash operations, including releasing of sales orders, creating delivery documents, updating & invoicing orders/shipments within allotted time.

  • Run and analyze daily reports in SAP and BI systems.

  • Complete daily performance metrics and contribute to meeting customer’s expectations and service level goals of 98/98

  • Investigate and troubleshoot customer service issues and ability to analyze problems and make independent judgment to initiate corrective action or resolution

  • Assist in the preparation of new customer setup forms and/or request changes to existing accounts in the corporate database maintaining customer requirements and regulatory compliance guidelines

  • Assists with plant audits or customer visits

  • Enters or corrects line item price on sales orders following pricing approval process, provides pricing inquiries and prepares pricing letters for customers.

  • Provides damage shipment disposition and corrective action/resolution plan

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with inventory and production personnel to help assure proper inventory levels and assist in inventory allocations in accordance with sales forecasts.

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with National/Key Account Managers in designated channels and with the other Account Service Representatives where channels overlap.

  • Create and maintain up-to-date SOP (standard operating job processes) outlining customer specific exceptions and processes necessary to service the customer as expected and agreed upon.

Associate’s Degree or equivolent work experience


  • Basic knowledge of customer service function and roles such as planning, organizing, coordinating and directing

  • High concern for detail and accuracy

  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills

  • Three to five years of experience consumer products customer service or operations

  • Demonstrates a high concern for detail, accuracy, and compliance to Company and Corporate policies and procedures

  • Demonstrates ability to perform under high levels of stress for peak seasons

  • Interpersonal skill in order to work effectively and confidently with individuals both internal and external to the Company at varying levels of influence

  • Demonstrated ability to display diplomacy in day-to-day interactions with a commitment to task and awareness of urgency

  • Self-motivated, with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm

  • Able to perform basic calculations and mathematical figures

  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team


  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Experience with SAP System

  • Working in conjunction with transportation and/or product planning departments


  • Knowledge of internal systems, SAP

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint
