Job Summary:

This role develops, supports, and maintains creative desktop process automations; customizes, supports, and maintains a commercial creative desktop application; architects, develops, implements, supports, and maintains Jostens Enterprise and Legacy Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems/capabilities; and works on/coordinates related special projects and initiatives. It enables and supports digital asset-related technology capabilities for multiple workgroups, processes, workflows, and integrated applications across multiple businesses and sites.

Job Description:

Creative Desktop Process Automation Development and Support:

• Develop CorelDraw Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) automations that create, standardize, transform, and process digital assets per art and production process requirements, and enable process efficiency, consistency, and quality per Jostens product, manufacturing, print, web, and digital asset standards; maintain and support automations for multiple workgroups across multiple businesses and sites, including Eagan, Shelbyville, Dominican Republic, Greenville, and Owatonna

o Develop, test, and deploy CorelDraw digital asset process automations and transformations per art/manufacturing, project/initiative, and DAM requirements

o Support CorelDraw digital asset process automations and transformations for creative and production users; troubleshoot and resolve technology-related problems associated with digital asset processes

• Integrate creative desktop automations into Enterprise DAM capability

Provide and maintain detailed digital asset process and procedural documentation for CorelDraw users

• Provide and maintain detailed digital asset process and procedural documentation for CorelDraw users

DAM System Architecture, Development and Maintenance:

• Architect, develop, and implement Jostens Enterprise (MediaBin) and Legacy (JOG) DAM systems, their extensive custom Java code bases that wrap them around DAM-related business user, process, workflow, and integrated application requirements for multiple workgroups across multiple businesses and sites, and their associated processes and interconnections with other systems

• Work closely with Manager of DAM on designing and implementing DAM solutions to meet evolving business needs

• Solve complex problems by conferring with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces

• Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints

• Develop requirements, architecture, design and test plan documentation

• Enforce coding standards to maintain code of the highest quality

• Resolve Java code bugs/defects

• Enhance logging capabilities for improved defect tracking and resolution.

• Maintain a test-driven development model and work to continuously improve unit test coverage to better test code before deploying it.

• Automate governance issue detection with Java

• Add new Java functionality to enhance/expand digital asset and metadata support automations

• Develop/support/maintain MediaBin user interface and configuration customizations via JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and XML configuration files

• Develop/support/maintain digital asset/metadata migration and system report capabilities

• Manage ongoing/scheduled MediaBin digital asset/metadata maintenance and governance activity via Java fixit automations, etc.

• Research/discover emerging DAM industry technology trends, software, languages, and standards in support of development efforts

• Evaluate/recommend purchase of new hardware and software to improve productivity

DAM Application Administration and Support:

• Support/maintain Jostens Enterprise (MediaBin) and Legacy (JOG) DAM applications:

o Perform ongoing on-call support, maintenance, and operational functions of applications, capabilities, environments and their extensive custom Java code bases; some support activities will be performed outside of normal work hours

o Identify and resolve application problems, monitor system resources, stability, etc.

o Ensure that the DAM applications are functioning properly per business user, process, workflow, and integrated application requirements

• Collaborate support activity with various internal and external parties; coordinate with necessary infrastructure, development, and/or vendor teams to deliver resolution

• Develop and maintain relationships with development teams, infrastructure teams, and vendors; work with applications/support teams to understand application behavior and present ideas for system improvement to the core business applications

• Drive efforts to define, prioritize, and implement solutions to issues that impact users and affect key application and end user productivity

• Manage/execute MediaBin installations, upgrades, patches; collaborate with other infrastructure and development teams to ensure that database and application patches and upgrades are scheduled, implemented, and validated in a timely manner and within proper change management framework

• Support/manage ongoing/scheduled MediaBin server, database, and security-related maintenance

• Gather and direct information to appropriate parties and act as a source of knowledge for development teams and support clients relating to application stability, digital asset deployment, and infrastructure environment

• Enhance existing internal client relationships through effective communication and proper responsiveness to issues

• Maintain enterprise and workgroup-specific digital asset standards

• Model and support DAM metadata taxonomy architecture

• Ensure integrity of DAM system processes, digital assets, and metadata for use by Jostens personnel and systems

• Document creative workflows; collaborate on creative workflow integration

• Provide and maintain detailed business analysis, process, and procedural documentation for DAM users

Project/Initiative Execution and Support:

• Coordinate/work on special projects/initiatives as assigned; assist with sizing, planning, developing, tracking, and managing digital asset-related processes, and gathering, compiling, and analyzing digital assets and digital asset-related metrics using DAM, AS400, and Oracle data, and Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft DOS, and other querying/programming techniques

• Contribute ideation

• Create, repurpose, and/or process digital assets when needed

Qualifications :

Required:

• The role requires balanced knowledge and experience across creative processes and workflows, Jostens business operations, product lines, and digital asset applications for manufacturing, printing, and web experiences

• 4-year College Degree or equivalent work experience

• Five-plus years work experience with:

o Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming or equivalent

o Creative desktop customization, process/automation development, integration, and support

o DAM support

o Creative workflow support

• Desired experience with systems analysis/design, computer programming, including:

o Software Engineering and Architecture background

 2 years Java Development experience:

• Work with large code base to solve complex business problems

• Support Java systems

• Able to establish/follow solid coding standards

• Follows test-driven development methodology

• Web Service experience

• Source control experience using Subversion

 Web Application architecture and implementation:

• HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML

• Web Application Frameworks

• VBS

o Enterprise System Support:

 Experience working with IT Infrastructure Systems Engineering and DBA personnel on implementing changes and resolving issues

 Strong troubleshooting background

o Information Management:

 Oracle database design and query creation

 Information Architecture

 Experience with digital assets

• Strong problem solving, creative, analytical, and technical skills

• Proficiency with CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator, or other vector illustration software, and Corel Photo-Paint, Adobe Photoshop, or other bitmap paint/editing software

• Proficiency with Microsoft Access, SQL, or other database software, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

• Proficiency with trouble-shooting/solving technology-related problems using systematic, methodical, agile approach

• Solid organizational and time management skills; incumbent needs to work independently and systematically, time-manage multiple tasks and responsibilities, and work under tight deadlines and prioritize work per evolving business requirements

• Detail-oriented work approach

• Proficiency with file system management

• Strong metadata taxonomy modelling skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
