Title: Materials Engineer

Location: Denton, TX

Reports to: Quality and Engineering Manager

As our Materials Engineer you will plan and facilitate the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes, new materials, optimization of current materials, new product roll out and changes to existing product lines.

Key Accountabilities:

Facilitate the development, improvement, and/or implementation of product line(s) to improve efficiencies on both labor & material

• Develop and/or assess processes and design to effectively reduce waste of raw materials, reduce scrap, improve quality, and maximize plant efficiencies

• Present project status, scope & outcomes to all involved personnel & site leadership

• Coordinate with outside vendors that participate in project activities

Monitor, evaluate and optimize manufacturing processes

• Monitor incoming material from outside vendors to ensure product meets needed manufacturing requirements and evaluate for needed improvements to consistently support plant metrics

• Evaluate the use of alternative materials to improve quality and reduce cost

• Develop and/or assesses processes and recommend improvements to reduce scrap, improve quality and maximize efficiencies.

• Present project status, scope or outcomes to all involved personnel & site leadership

• Coordinate with outside vendors that participate in project activities

Contribute to Plant Cost Improvement Initiatives enabling financial performance

• Participate in development of Cost Improvement Portfolio (CIP) to cover plant costs

• Participate in capital expenditures in support of CIP’s

• Work with cross functional and/or engineering teams on more complex projects with larger scope

• Facilitate and participate in a variety of product engineering projects of a broad nature requiring appreciable creativity, ingenuity, business acumen, and sound decision making ability for both existing products and new products


• BS degree in Materials Engineering or equivalent

• Thorough understanding of manufacturing and production environments

• Ability to work cross culturally

• Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills

• Ability to work effectively within cross functional teams

• Must be able to work independently to solve problems using appropriate methods and channels in a timely manner

• Must work well in a team environment

• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment

Preferred (not required):

• Lean Six Sigma Training

• 5 years’ experience in dealing with metals

• Investment Casting Experience
