Position Title: Marketing and Graphic Design Specialist
Reports to: Business Manager, Lawn and Garden
Location: Columbia, South Carolina
The Marketing and Graphic Design Specialist is responsible for executing the overall marketing and communications activities involved in the promotion and support of the company’s sales, products, and other services. This position will have a heavy focus on graphic design, working closely with Sales, Product Manager, and Business Manager on the development and execution of new products, marketing plans, and programs that increase Shakespeare’s market share.
This position requires a multi-talented person who is versatile in all functional aspects of marketing, communications and graphic design. The functionality of the Marketing and Graphic Design Specialist includes graphic materials for packaging, POP, signage, displays, trade show materials, photography, online content such as images, product copy, and videos, as well as monitoring internal and external websites to ensure brand guidelines are followed.
The position requires excellent organizational skills, accuracy and diplomacy, as it is directly responsible for the good image/brand of the company.
In collaboration with the Consumer Products team, the Marketing and Graphic Design Specialist leads the effort in gathering consumer insight via focus group studies and end user interviews.
The Marketing and Graphic Design Specialist must enjoy spending time on both creative and non-creative projects, understand existing product offering and opportunities, and find innovative marketing solutions that will drive growth in our Consumer Products business.
Create graphic materials for packaging, POP, PDQ, signage, displays and marketing collateral.
Create content for multiple national and international brands.
Manage artwork checklist and proofing with vendors
Manage websites, YouTube channels, and social media while improving SEO.
Photography and video production.
Manage and organize a library of artwork and digital assets.
Work with sales and product teams to launch new products, insuring all assets are completed
Assist in trade show planning and deliverables
Lead focus groups and conduct basic marketing research.
Identify innovative and creative marketing solutions.
Assist Product Managers in the new product development process to ensure all creative elements are delivered to suppliers on time for product launches/updates
Develop and write new style guides for each of our brands, and acts as gatekeeper for visual compliance
Provide support for other departmental projects as needed
Participate in opportunities to develop both personally and professionally
Ensure compliance with all legal requirements for products and packaging (domestic and international)
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, or related fields
4+ years’ experience in marketing & communications, with demonstrated performance with high-profile clients
Graphic design experience with demonstrated proficiency Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
Understanding of basic photography and product photography
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Solid understanding and demonstrated skills in strategic digital marketing activities including SEO
Excellent communication (written/ verbal/ presentation) and organizational skills
Strong client/customer relationship skills including building and managing relationships, understanding of customer needs and market requirements
Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, maintaining quality and creativity
Ability to multi-task several projects at one time
Video scripting and production a plus (Final Cut Pro or iMovie)
