The Saddle Stitcher Operator must have the ability to set up and operate the machine at high rates and work as an equipment leader. Load and lift covers, and check quality of books coming off the line. Understand all aspects of the machine (from loading through boxing). Operator is responsible for ordering materials for machine (such as wire), and perform preventive maintenance. Depending on production needs, operator could be asked to run other equipment and move around the Bindery on an as needed basis.
High School degree or GED required.
Good verbal communication skills.
Mechanical ability and trouble-shooting skills.
Saddle Stitcher machine experience preferred.
Must successfully complete advanced machine training within department.
Must be a team player.
Works well under the pressure of deadlines.
Able to give and follow written and verbal instructions.
Willing to work flexible hours and overtime with short notice.
Ability to stand through 8 or 12 hour shifts.
Must have flexibility to learn and use new technology.
Complies with all safety and operations procedures.
Must be able to properly lift 10 to 50 lbs. to shoulder height.
Must have excellent attendance.
