Position Title: Supply Planner
Location: Chicago/Outdoor & Recreation Division
Reports To: Manager, Supply Planning
The Supply Planner is responsible for the purchasing plan to assure product availability to meet customer service demands and meet or exceed business objectives. The Planner works closely with the Demand Planning, Customer service, Sales and Marketing teams on a timely basis to provide accurate information regarding finished goods deliveries and product availability.
Tactical – Supply Planning
Supply planning to deliver Service Level and Inventory targets
Reviews requisition recommendations and adjusts purchase orders as needed; identify potential substitutions to satisfy customer needs.
Manages purchase order status and amendments.
Manage any Level Load and capacity management contracts with vendors
Updates Delivery Schedules and Delivery Dates in SAP
Manages Repacking/Rework Projects as necessary
Identifies and resolves conflicts with respect to materials and capacity availability
Other tasks that support overall supply planning function, as required.
Strategic – Supply Planning
Manages lead time deviation review and adjustment in identifying risks and opportunities.
Works with vendor through operations team in Asia to resolve conflict on delayed POs due to either internal issues or vendor issues
Responsible for total inventory. Monitors inventory level to ensure customer service metrics and inventory goals will be achieved.
Updates inventory replenishment parameters for existing and new SKUs
Works with key suppliers to understand monthly/weekly constrained production plan.
Evaluates MRP replenishment signals to optimize finished goods purchases to account for optimal inventory levels across the network, available supplier capacity and efficient inbound container shipment.
Determines future potential negative inventory situations. Facilitate meetings with internal team of Sourcing, Product and Sales management with the goal of deriving solutions beneficial to customers.
Makes strategic recommendations for improved processes such as new production introductions, order and supplier management, inventory management
Adheres to /Improving necessary processes, systems, reports, KPI's
Supports financial management goals
Leads and/or participates in S&OP processes.
Recommends and activates disposition strategies for blocked, excess and obsolete inventory
Partners with marketing, sales, and R&D teams to effectively manage new product introductions, end of life phase-outs, promotions, portfolio management (SKU Rationalization), and related processes.
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
0-2 years of related experience in consumer products industry.
Knowledge/understanding of supply chain and inventory management processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Advanced PC skills with strong proficiency in Excel, database and analytical tools (lookups, pivots, formulas, data visualization, etc.)
Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Experience and skill with SAP APO, BW and R/3 systems preferred
