Newell Brands Plant Manager-LIFOAM - Process Solutions in Belcamp, Maryland

REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Operations-LIFOAM – Process Solutions Division of Newell Brands
The Plant Manager is responsible for all internal activities affecting production including meeting objectives and maintaining established safety, environmental, quality, cleanliness, productivity, and efficiency standards for the plant they oversee. The Plant Manager is responsible for all operations including production, purchasing, scheduling, and customer service. A significant portion of plant success is through the implementation of continuous improvement and LEAN manufacturing techniques. The Plant Manager reports to the Senior Director of Operations for the LIFOAM business unit in the Process Solutions Division of Newell Brands.
Provides for safety of all employees including implementing established safety requirements; initiating preventative and corrective actions and ensuring employee training.
Directs the quality control, production performance, maintenance, environmental and plant administrative functions.
Ensures accurate counting and recording, including electronic reporting, to reflect production, hours, raw material usage and scrap.
Monitors and reports on production results. Initiates and implements improvement measures as needed.
Oversees the continual development and updating of the manufacturing operating procedures manuals and the establishment of good manufacturing practices.
Oversees and coordinates inspection of finished goods and incoming raw materials. Facilitates decision making regarding material status.
Oversees and coordinates quality inspection system including inspection database, specifications, standards, and procedures.
Works with vendors of raw materials to ensure materials meet production requirements.
Oversees and supports vendor evaluation database for CPC. Provides data for evaluations.
Documents and supports Quality Management System (QMS) for assigned facility.
Oversees, facilitates, and reformulates chemical composition mixture as necessary to adapt to changing requirements.
Facilitates supervisory training, monitors attendance and addresses disciplinary issues.
Responsible for identifying and executing cost reduction projects and initiatives.
Understand basic financial principals, cause and effects and be able to take actions to improve financial performance of the facility.
Performs those administrative activities necessary for the effective management of responsibilities and, where applicable, selection and development of employees, salary administration, budget administration, employee safety, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives, and planning and organizing, integrating and measuring the work performed within the department.
Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

Travel: Up to 10 – 15%
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university required; degree focus in Engineering or Operations Management preferred.
MBA highly preferred
Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience including proven success at leading direct reports required; seven (7) of experience preferred.
Proven track record of delivering results in a high-performance continuous improvement environment using LEAN tools and methodologies.
Experience leading Change Initiatives with Change Management techniques.
Proven success working with a team to implement and audit systems that drove performance improvements in key metrics (KPIs)
Practical work experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems required; experience with SAP preferred.
Minimum of intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, and Project) required; advanced proficiency preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of management functions such as planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written required.
High concern for detail and accuracy.
Must be able to prepare and manage annual budgets to plan.
Possesses the ability to analyze problems and make independent judgment to initiate corrective action or resolution.
The ability to work with and maintain information of a confidential nature.
Effective interviewing and talent evaluation skills.
Strong meeting skills ensuring meetings are efficient and effective.
Experience with Manufacturing Cell design, work simplification and workload balancing concepts.
Working knowledge of safety and quality procedures in a manufacturing environment.
Understanding of upstream and downstream processes.
Exposure to cross-functional departments; able to effectively work within project teams involving Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, IT, Quality, Human Resources and sales.
Able to be assertive, responsive, and make proper and prompt decisions using fact base support.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Sitting at workstation approximately 85 percent of work time. Standing and walking approximately 15 percent of work time.
Must be able to travel 10-15 percent of work time.
Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
Typical office environment with shelves overhead and above work surfaces.
