Position Title: Regional Accounting Leader

Location: Atlanta, GA

Reports To: Manager, General Accounting

The Regional Accounting Leader will be the leader of the financial close for a region across Newell. Accountability, accuracy and timeliness will be key to their success, rewarded with exposure to business and operations leadership. The Accounting Leader will also lead strategic accounting and process improvement initiatives and as well will be the point of contact of divisions for service and additional scope initiatives and implementation. Accountable for General Accounting Master data for the specific region

Responsibilities:

• Leadsgeneral accounting close management for specified regions, accountable for theclosing process for the region, ensuring compliance with corporatedeadlines-schedule with quality and accuracy of the financial statements of theregion

• Performskey close activities, preparing and reviewing complex accounting journalentries, coordinating staff and resolving issues

• Createsbridge between accounting, finance and operations, providing GAAP leadership,offering procedural guidance, ensuring SOX compliance and completing routinebalance sheet reviews

• Leadsmanagement and reporting for intercompany and HFM consolidation

• Workdirectly with staff accountants and Senior Accountant analyst in thedepartment, ensuring tasks completed in a timely and accurate manner

• Leadsstrategic corporate projects and team continuous improvement initiatives

• Reviewsexisting processes, recommending opportunities to streamline and standardizeregionally or globally

• Supportsinternal and external audits, sales and use tax filings and federal tax filings

• Performssuch individual assignments as management may direct

• Responsibleof management of General Accounting Master data execution and compliance withstandard processes

• Establishesand maintains effective work relationships with stakeholders at all levels

• Maintainsthe professional competence, knowledge and skills necessary for assignedresponsibilities

• TrialBalance reviews and sign off with corporate accounting, main point of contactfor corporate accounting to address issues and resolve closing discrepancies,reopen of books or adjustments at close

• Coordinatethe migration of new brands and business unto SAP

• BSDegree in Accounting

• CPA or equivalent experience

• Publicaccounting experience preferred

• Proven experience leading month end close 2-5years

• 5+years in corporate accounting environments, preferably multi-layered, globalorganizations

• SAPExperience

• Audit Experience

• Attentionto detail and accuracy

• Abilityto self-start, prioritize work and follow through

• Teammanagement skills

• AdvancedMS Excel skills, managing spreadsheets and using advanced formulas

• Strong knowledge of US GAAP
