Position Title: Manager, Sales Planning - Food Division
Reports to: Sr. Manager, Sales Planning
The role of this job is to commercialize sales and marketing programs within assigned channels or customers of distribution and to identify channel-specific business-building opportunities; work cross functionally to deliver sales and profit results through commercialization of the overarching brand/trade strategies to the customer/channel.
Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Customer Planning and Execution
Contributes to the annual salesplanning process relative to area of responsibility.
Partners with sales team toensures plans are built to meet division sales budget and trade spendguidelines.
Executes DSMP plans inassigned channels to meet division goals to align with brand and businessunit strategic plans.
Maximizes new item launchplans in assigned channel/customer base.
Supports critical internal andcustomer planning initiatives including, but not limited to jointbusiness plans, and internal annual operating plan.
Plans trade spend strategy tomaximize ROI for both Newell and retail partners.
Quantifies and identifiesrisks and opportunities to achieving sales budget.
Conducts situationassessments, utilizing internal and syndicated data sources.
Implements category managementrecommendations to optimize performance of shelf set or catalog space,such as optimal SKU assortment, merchandising and shelf/ catalog layoutbased on the DSMP.
Assists in the line/catalogreview preparation process, collaborating with Sales and Trade Strategy /Brand Development. Works with sales to drive pre-sell activity withcustomer, manage/drive expectations, and establish mutual goals for themeeting.
Forecasting,Pricing, and Trade Fund Management
Manages Customer Monthly andout months/quarter internal sales calls.
Generates promotional P&L’sto ensure sales and profit metrics are being achieved.
Prepares product mixrecommendations.
For the retail partner/at thecustomer level,
For the business profitability
Routes approvals of tradeexpenditures.
Ensures internal trade spendcontrols are being adhered to drive compliance of trade program.
Understands what trade funds orcustomer program spend is available or needed for programming.
Analyzes the effectiveness oftrade spend within area of responsibility.
Tracks compliance to budgetedtrade rates for assigned channel/customers
Tracks, analyzes, and reportspotential impact of pricing exceptions on channel / region.
Tracks and analyzes NWL brandand competitive price within the marketplace.
Market, Shopper, and Channel / End-User Insights
Compiles market, shopper /end-user, and channel knowledge gaps and creates a summary for thebusiness to review.
Manages timelines anddeliverables for all line/catalog reviews.
Compiles profiles ofcompetitors and channel customers
Gathers competitive andmarketplace intelligence and share with the organization, ultimatelyconstructing a competitive profile and comp shop analysis.
Bachelor's degree (emphasis inbusiness/marketing or related field), MBA or other advanced degree highlypreferred
3-5 years of experienceworking with a leading CPG company (Trade Marketing, Sales, Finance, orrelated position)
Possesses creative problemsolving skills to overcome barriers and close opportunities.
Fluent in English (verbal andwritten)
Experience in operating withincross-functional teams
Ability to think creatively,generate options, build consensus, and execute.
Comfort dealing with ambiguityand a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
Experience participating inorganizations through change and embracing new ways of working whiledelivering outstanding business results. Experience in mergersituations desirable.
Aptitude for both strategicthinking and detail-oriented operational management.
Experience with a CPG ordurable company, ideally in channel management, brand management,insights. or sales.
Developing a multi-year planor approach and executing at least one year of the plan.
Leading a team of people toachieve results.
