Position Title: Director, FP&A – Writing Division

Location: Atlanta GA

Reports to: CEO, Writing Division

The Director, FP&A will lead the global financial planning and analysis function for the Writing Division as well as provide financial leadership and expertise to the division and respective teams as we execute the Divisions’ growth strategies. The position will support the estimate process, the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process, budgeting and forecasting, product and customer profitability analysis, gross to net investment evaluation and allocation, pricing strategy, and trade spending analysis and reporting. The position will also conduct financial reporting and analysis to assess and identify the risks and opportunities, develop sales reporting that measures performance which is issues oriented and drives accountability. The position will also oversee compliance with all applicable Sarbanes-Oxley and statutory requirements related to the position.

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with regional and center led teams to coordinate timely and accurate closing, budgeting & forecasting cycle. Analyze monthly results and / or trending data to support the monthly/quarterly estimate, include risk and opportunity assessments.

  • Support Division CFO in the overall Financial Management of the Division

  • Provide Project Management and Risk Management Leadership

  • Support the teams through rigorous financial analysis of forecast assumptions, historical performance and sales acceleration opportunities

  • Support the implementation and management of customer Joint Business Planning (JBP) process and related tools to ensure successful planning for near- and long-term activities across the corporation’s key customers and channels.

  • Support the monthly performance reporting activities including timely and insightful commentary on performance compared to the prior year and to estimates.

  • Ensure full internal control measures are in place and complied with according to the guidelines of internal and external audit and more specifically, Sarbanes-Oxley.

  • Evaluate current systems and processes and recommend appropriate value-added changes to enhance sales systems tools and information.

  • Provide strong leadership and communication to the business.

  • Provide career development and coaching/mentoring to the Writing Finance staff using the Newell Rubbermaid individual performance management process.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.

  • 10 - 15 years of experience in finance/accounting, preferably in a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) environment.

  • Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or management role.

  • Significant experience with SAP and Hyperion is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated accomplishments in the areas of finance and accounting.

  • Sales and marketing finance experience strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to foster and develop strong finance teams that partner with business teams to drive growth.

  • Ability to assess risks and opportunities within complex business situations.

  • Demonstrated ability to recommend and make decisions quickly under any situation.

  • Demonstrated record of solid career progression.

  • Action orientation and assertive style.

  • Ability to be objective is required.
