Position Title: Trade Marketing Manager EMEA

Location: Alnwick, Northumberland

Reports: Commercial Director

Job Summary:

The Trade Marketing Manager’s primary objective is to ensure we increase the demand for our brands across our customer network. The postholder will manage a small team, and work closely with the Brand Development team and other stakeholders in order to develop and execute an effective trade strategy across the region.

Job Description:

  • Developing and implementing the commercial and channel strategy across the region for our customer base.

  • Working with the Sales Directors in setting the sales agenda across each location.

  • Carrying out competitor and market analysis, developing a high awareness of external activity and planning and executing appropriate action.

  • Monitoring new product launches and providing reports on sales performance to adapt quickly to sales trends.

  • Analysing which products are selling well in each region and making appropriate recommendations.

  • Identify white spaces for future opportunities by analyzing sales performance by sales rep, region, brand, category and customer.

  • Managing the promotional planning process in alignment with the global calendar.

  • Managing all in-store visibility projects.

  • Managing the pricing strategy in conjunction with the brand team.

  • Managing all trade events across the region, ensuring cost efficiency and a return on investment.

  • Building and executing joint business plans for all key customers, tracking spend and ensuring a return on investment.

  • Developing and managing all asset creation for the sales team, including trade catalogues, selling sheets, product and promotional flyers, promotional visual displays, etc.

  • Creating generic literature and selling solutions for our customers.

  • Participating in the development of new product item launch and training materials.

  • Recommending any new product innovation needs to penetrate new channels/customers.

  • Providing input for the monthly integration meeting during the S&OP process to ensure forecast accuracy.

  • Working closely with the brand team to support SKU rationalization and disposition on E&O.

  • Additional similar duties as required to fulfil the requirements of the role and support the Commercial business.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally in a business-related subject.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar sales or trade marketing role is essential.

  • A working knowledge of marketing and the sales planning process with a focus on achieving margins.

  • A demonstrable track record of delivering a trade strategy with a consumer focused business.

  • At least 3-4 years’ experience of managing, leading and developing a team to achieve results, preferably in an FMCG consumer, trade or sales environment.

  • A strong focus on the customer and consumer and understanding the differences between the two.

  • Demonstrable experience/knowledge of events and event management.

  • Detail oriented with the ability to plan and deliver multiple priorities and a busy workload.

  • Excellent communication and listening skills, with the ability to work effectively and build solid professional relationships with a wide variety of key stakeholders.

  • Adaptable, flexible, and able to learn quickly within an ambiguous working environment.

  • A high degree of business integrity and able to develop and maintain professional working relationships.

  • Experience of managing key/national accounts would be a distinct advantage.

  • Product knowledge of fishing tackle and the industry would be highly desirable.

This role would suit a candidate who is a natural influencer, technically minded, with strong analytical skills and experience dealing with a broad customer base. Using insight, trend data and new product selections, you will advise our sales teams and customers alike on the mix of products to sell. Key stakeholders will include Commercial Directors, the Brand Development team and Finance collectively creating short to medium term marketing initiatives based upon the overall strategic plans.
